SRAM Road groups are increasingly being used on gravel bikes. These bikes often have wider rear stays, similar to modern MTBs. This makes the use of standard road cranksets no longer possible. While using an MTB crankset could have been an option, the gear ratios for MTB usage differ too much from the road/all-road/gravel usage these days.Choosing an extra crankset size is a logical step. With Road-Wide, you retain the desired chainring ratio and can combine with a wider rear stay.
